Meet the team
Rhys Heron
Managing Director Mi9 NZ

Rhys Heron is Managing Director of Mi9. Rhys joined Mi9 for the second time in June 2016, having previously worked as head of business development before spending time at Yahoo! and Yellow in business development, digital strategy and product management leadership roles. Before moving to New Zealand in 2011, Rhys held senior product management and general management positions at Mi9 parent Nine Digital in Sydney, including leading its Mobile and HWW business units, and worked in London and Melbourne prior to that.

Passionate about digital, Rhys contributes to the development of a competitive local industry as a member of the IABNZ Board and Vice Chair of its Mobile Advertising Council.

Rhys holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Deakin University, Australia and is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

Rhys lives on Auckland's North Shore with his wife and two boys.

Christiaan Rutten
Director, Business Strategy and Operation

Christiaan Rutten leads Mi9's overall business strategy with a focus on financial planning and analysis, operating strategy, execution, and performance management. He is also responsible for Mi9's commercial operations driving the monetisation, inventory, trading, campaign optimisation and ad product strategies - partnering with the national sales team to maximise revenue potential.

Christiaan joined Mi9 in 2012 after ten years in media across a range of disciplines including sales planning and performance, business development and partner management, inventory and monetisation, research and insights, and general business management. He is passionate about driving sustainable business performance while delivering great experiences and opportunities for both audiences and advertisers.
