Meet the team
Rhys Heron
Managing Director, Mi9 NZ

Rhys Heron is Managing Director of Mi9 NZ. Rhys joined Mi9 for the second time in June 2016, having previously worked as head of business development before spending time at Yahoo! and Yellow in business development, digital strategy and product management leadership roles. Before moving to New Zealand in 2011, Rhys held senior product management and general management positions at Mi9 parent Nine Digital in Sydney, including leading its Mobile and HWW business units, and worked in London and Melbourne prior to that.

Passionate about digital, Rhys contributes to the development of a competitive local industry as a member of the IABNZ Board and Chair of its Mobile Advertising Council.

Rhys holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Deakin University, Australia and is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

When he gets time Rhys enjoys reading ancient and military history, loves running and bootcamp, and lives on Auckland's North Shore with his wife and two boys.

Guy Shepheard
National Sales Director

Guy Shepheard is National Sales Director at Mi9 NZ. Guy has been with Mi9 for two years and previously worked for parent Nine Digital in Australia in a variety of sales roles for two years. Prior to Nine Digital, Guy worked client-side for Paramount Pictures in sales for four years.

Guy holds a Bachelor of Arts with a Film major from the University of Auckland and a Certificate of Communications from Auckland University of Technology.

Guy is an avid basketball fan and film nut.

Parris Downey
Head of Programmatic

Parris Downey is Head of Programmatic at Mi9 NZ. Parris joined Mi9 in May 2016 and brings a wealth of publisher and agency experience from his 14-plus-year career in media. Prior to Mi9, Parris spent a number of years at Fairfax Media in various roles including National Digital Sales Manager as well as launching Fairfax's Marketing Services business unit. Between leaving Fairfax and joining Mi9, Parris spent time agency-side working in senior digital strategy roles and contracting across a number of organisations.

Parris has previously sat on the IABNZ Board, played roles in key digital industry initiatives and has a strong background in traditional media research and analysis.

Parris holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Auckland and a Certificate in Computing from Computer Power Training Institute.

Outside work, Parris enjoys spending time with friends and family, playing guitar, watching basketball, and jamming as many experiences and laughs into a day as he possibly can.
