Why Netsafety Matters to Mi9

Why Netsafety Matters to Mi9

Mi9 is an organisation that sells advertising on the websites and apps of our publisher partners, a business model Mi9 has employed since it was established more than 14 years ago. As such, we’re a beneficiary of an open and safe Internet in New Zealand.

The Internet conveys many advantages to its users, including access to information, education, communication and entertainment globally, to name a few.

However, the openness and safety of the Internet should not be taken for granted. Its importance to the daily lives of many people on the planet also makes it a tempting target for those with harmful or criminal intent both here and overseas. The rise and prevalence of phishing scams, cyberbullying, hacking, data breaches and ransomware attacks highlight this.

One of the organisations at the forefront of educating Kiwis about the threats they may face online, and recommendations for countering them, is Netsafe.

From 26-30 July Netsafe is hosting its first ever Netsafety Week, designed to Make Aotearoa Safer Online

Mi9 is proud to partner with Netsafe to offer our resources to help ensure the Internet remains as open and safe for Kiwis as possible, so that everyone using the Internet can thrive, and the critical contribution of the Internet to the economic and social wellbeing of New Zealand continues.
